Mobile Hygiene & Dignity Unit

Each January, the Lowcountry Continuum of Care counts how many people are experiencing homelessness in our region on a single night. In 2024, that count rose to 476 — up 17.8% from the year before, with unsheltered homelessness climbing even faster statewide. As Bus 207 takes on our mobile dental clinic mission, we're exploring a new purpose for our original Yellow Bus: a mobile shower and laundry unit bringing hygiene access and dignity-centered support to unhoused residents across the Tri-County area. We're exploring funding avenues to bring this concept to life, and it's in the early stages. We're listening first, engaging city partners and the community members it would serve.
